Pajarito Powder Presents at DOE Annual Merit Review

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EREE), under the auspices of the United States Department of Energy, hosted its Annual Merit Review (AMR) of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in Washington D.C. during the 1st week of June. Pajarito Powder joined other principal investigators in presenting their latest research.

Pajarito Powder had several team members in attendance at the conference. Dr. Alexey Serov, Pajarito Powder’s Chief Scientist presented “Development of PGM-free Catalysts for Hydrogen Oxidation Reaction in Alkaline Media,” which received significant peer approval from reviewers and elicited the response “Alexey, this is nothing less than a breakthrough, congratulations,” from Dr. Shimshon Gottesfeld, esteemed scientist and entrepreneur in the field of fuel cell development. Dr. Serov also participated in the poster presentation, “Development of Durable Active Supports for Low Platinum Group Metal Catalysts.”

The Pajarito Powder team met with customers, partners and friends attending over the course of the five-day event. It is considered the premier event of its kind in the industry, because of the extensive support the Department of Energy provides in funding and supporting research and development activities.

Webb Johnson, Senior Director of Business Development, served on a panel for the Department of Energy’s H2 Founder’s kick-off event. Webb provided guidance to early-stage entrepreneurs on the importance of the ‘customer discovery process’, highlighting both the value of insights gleaned using the process and its power in building a “customer-centric” company culture. He effused about the importance of waiting to take investment until specific customers and authentic demand have been identified.
