Mayor Richard Berry Designates October 8th Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day

The 3rd annual International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day takes place today, October 8th. The holiday was created in recognition of the advent of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day is celebrated on 10/08 each year, as the atomic weight of hydrogen is 1.008. The holiday was formally recognized by both houses of US Congress in 2015, and has continuously been adopted by Mayors and Governors around the country.

Richard Berry, Mayor of the city of Albuquerque where Pajarito Powder is located, designated October 8th, 2017 Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, in support of local efforts led by Pajarito Powder to bring hydrogen and fuel cell technologies to market.

Events are also being held around the world on October 8th as part of a greater effort to promote recognition of the technology. Shell Oil has scheduled an unveiling of a new hydrogen refueling station in California, capable of refueling 200 kilograms of hydrogen every 12 hours, with Linde Group unveiling a similar station in California two days later.

FCHEA, Toyata and Honda will also be holding a joint ride-and-drive event for members of Congress and their staff.Boston, as part of the Federal Trade Administration’s National Fuel Cell Bus Program, will be sending its first Nuvera zero-emission, fuel cell bus onto its streets on October 8th.

Mayor Richard Berry’s announcement to declare the holiday was also matched by Governor Daniel Melloy of Connecticut.
