Pajarito Powder Exhibits at 2018 ARPA-E Summit

Pajarito Powder participated as an exhibitor for the second year in a row in the U.S. Depart of Energy (US DOE) ARPA-E Summit, which took place March 12-15, in Washington, D.C.

The expansive agenda and diverse array of energy related startups and initiatives is the flagship event for the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), a United States government agency tasked with promoting and funding research and development of advanced energy technologies. Modeled after the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), it is a sub-agency of the Department of Energy with the stated goals of spurring high-risk, high-reward research that might not otherwise be pursued because there is a relatively risk of failure:
1. Identifying and promoting revolutionary advances in fundamental and applied sciences;
2. Translating scientific discoveries and cutting-edge inventions into technological innovations; and
3. Accelerating transformational technological advances in areas that industry by itself is not likely to undertake because of technical and financial uncertainty.

While the ARPA-E contract that Pajarito Powder and its associated partners received for development of reversible alkaline, Anion-Exchange Membrane (AEM) fuel cell/electrolyzer electrode, the summit represents a dynamic forum for awardees to interact with one-another, develop new relationships and potential approaches to solving the complex problems that ARPA-E was created to address, beyond the specific project goal.

Pajarito Powder CTO and President Dr. Barr Zulevi was characteristically effusive stating, “ARPA-E represents a valuable and irreplaceable advantage for energy statups in America that affords us the latitude to innovate aggressively, while mitigating the downside risk that could be fatal to a nascent startup.”
