Press Release: Pajarito Powder, LLC Joins Industry in Celebrating National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day

Fuel Cells Now Mainstream With Growing Markets Calls for Congress to Extend Tax Credits

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) – October 8, 2015 – Today, Pajarito Powder, LLC (PPC) joins the nation in celebrating National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day to raise awareness of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies that provide reliable and resilient power, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase America’s energy security.

The 8th of October was chosen to observe National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day in recognition of the atomic weight of hydrogen (1.008).

Fuel cells utilize hydrogen and hydrogen rich fuels in a chemical reaction without combustion to generate electricity in a way that is clean, efficient and quiet.

“Pajarito Powder is proud to be one of many companies and organizations participating in National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day,” said Tom Stephenson, PPC’s CEO and Chairman. “We are part of a robust industry and proud of the growing role of this proven technology in providing sustainable transportation, improved business operations, and resilient power.”

PPC is a venture-backed company founded with the mission of being the world’s first commercial manufacturer of drop-in replacement non-platinum fuel cell catalysts. Existing catalysts are made with platinum, an exorbitantly expensive substance with a turbulent and precarious supply chain. Working with some of the world’s leading catalyst research facilities, PPC delivers catalysts made of widely available and inexpensive materials with the performance and durability needed for today’s applications.

The continued growth of this industry is in America’s strong national interest. “To sustain this growth, we ask Congress to extend the tax credits for fuel cell electric vehicles, hydrogen fueling stations, and distributed generation applications, placing fuel cell vehicles on an equal footing with other electric vehicles,” added Stephenson.

“The future is now,” said Morry Markowitz, President of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA). “The industry has grown tremendously as fuel cell electric vehicles become available in the showroom, stationary applications continue to grow, and other markets such as material handling are taking off. Today we are celebrating the contributions fuel cell and hydrogen energy technologies have made towards our nation’s new energy future.”
