New Mexico STEP Program Essential Support for Pajarito Powder
April 2, 2018
Pajarito Powder benefits from several high-value programs managed by the State of New Mexico, including the State Trade and Export (STEP) Grant Initiative, a US Small Business Administration program that funds companies beginning to export or expanding into new export markets. As a STEP awardee, Pajarito Powder has benefitted from the program through participation in tradeshows in Germany and Japan, most notably the H2FC Fair at Hannover Messe and FC Expo (Fuel Cell Expo), part of World Smart Energy Week.
Pajarito Powder CEO & Chairman, Thomas J. Stephenson stated, “The STEP program, managed by the New Mexico Economic Development Department and, in particular, the program’s Director Ed Herrera have provided an incalculable service to Pajarito Powder, by facilitating our presence at the most important tradeshows in our industry.”
Pajarito Powder is one of several recipients of awards from the State’s program, which is focused on supporting women-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned, and rural ESBCs, among companies new to exporting. Activities supported include participation in foreign trade shows in Portugal, China, Germany, Mexico, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
Pajarito Powder, LLC is a venture-backed startup, funded by the Verge Fund and other investors, focused on developing next-generation fuel cell catalysts and catalyst supports for the automotive industry. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) are the industry recognized replacement for the internal combustion engine (ICE), emitting only water and providing similar use modalities as ICE vehicles.
Pajarito Powder benefits from resources provided by the State of New Mexico Economic Development Department: JTIP, STEP and other programs through the Office of Science and Technology.
