Hanover Messe 2017: Pajarito Powder Advances its Value Proposition through its Varipore Engineered Catalyst Support.

May 24, 2017

Hannover Messe, the world’s leading trade show on industrial technology, took place in the final week of April, and Pajarito Powder took advantage of the gathering to demonstrate its advances in Engineered Catalyst Support (ECS), made possible by its proprietary VariPore™ process for developing catalysts.  Pajarito Powder exhibited for the fourth consecutive year as part of the Group Exhibit: Hydrogen + Fuel Cells + Batteries at Hannover Messe.

Dr. Alia Lubers, Pajarito Powder’s Catalyst Manufacturing Manager, provided an invited Technical Forum presentation covering the clear advantages of using the VariPore™ approach to building ECSs, stating “We can improve upon conventional Platinum on Carbon catalysts, not only in performance but also in durability and stability. Additionally, because our VariPore™ method is scalable, we can address affordability.”

Dr. Lubers’ full presentation is available here.

Thomas Stephenson, Chairman and CEO of Pajarito Powder, drove the point home by providing perspective on how the evolution of the automotive industry will be led by developers who can not only innovate methods for catalyst development, but who can also do so economically. “We focus on engineering our catalyst supports from the ground up. This allows for a high degree of customization that’s cost effective at higher volumes” he stated when asked what makes Pajarito Powder’s approach unique.

The presentation can be found on the H2FC website, here.

The firm also demonstrates confidence in its VariPore™ approach with its Precious Metal Free (PMF) Catalysts that are appropriate for lower power density applications. The high degree of customization and scalability in the PMF catalysts are sure to position the company at the forefront of the economic development of fuel cells.

Pajarito Powder also debuted its latest research in the field of electrolyzers, specifically the development of electrodes for alkaline electrolyzers. This research is being done in conjunction with Universities and various labs around the United States of America, and remains in its development phases, with samples available soon for key partners.
